MAY GOD SAVE CHINA FROM DEVASTATING EARTHQUAKES

Updated: Jun 22, 2019

china during earthquake

China is a Geothermal Area. Entire land of China is full of cracks where in magma of 1200 degree centigrade comes in contact with water and thereby lot of steam is produced. Whenever the pressure of steam exceeds a critical limit blasts occur resulting into severe earthquakes. In other words storage of water in Hydro Electric dams in counterproductive for China. Here are the lists of the largest hydroelectric dams and devastating earthquakes in China

List of Earthquakes

In a collision that began at least 40 million years ago India has rammed 2000km into Eurasia and piled up the Himalayas and lofty Tibetian plateau. Pinned against Siberia, parts of China and central Asia are squeezed aside.

Arrows on the edge shows motion along major faults like Alytn Tagh ; those lying flat show motion of crustal blocks. As the blocks carom and jostle one pair far from the impact zone are knocked apart, opening up a rift that cradles Siberia's mile deep lake Baykal, the worlds deepest lake.

Since 1177 B.C Chinese accounts have described more than 3,000 destructive earthquakes. The old regime kept detailed record books , since earth tremors were thought to reflect a ruler's standing with heavens .

The account says that " the ground opened up as if it were a canal , water was spouting and sands boiling ". One thousand four hundred palaces and temples collapsed utterly."the deadliest earthquake recorded in human history struck neighbouring #shaanxi province in 1556 killing 830,000 people.

If we look at the list of Hydro Electric dams in China and the corresponding list of earthquakes in China, there is direct connection between both the lists ,in view of this Chinese Government se should immediately suspend the operation of these Hydro Electric dams.

Lest, the China will have to pay a very heavy price in the coming times.

CHINA CAN LEARN A LESSON FROM KOYANA NAGAR EARTHQUAKE IN 1967, MAHARASHTRA STATE, INDIA

The 1967 Koyananagar earthquake occurred near Koyana Nagar town in Maharastra, India on 11 December local time. The magnitude 6.6 shock hit with a maximum Mercalli intensity of VIII (Severe). It occurred near the site of Koyana dam, raising questions about induced seismicity , and claimed at least 177 lives and injured over 2,200.

DAMAGE

More than 80% of the houses were damaged in Koyana Nagar Township, but it did not cause any major damage to the dam except some cracks which were quickly repaired. There have been several earthquakes of smaller magnitude there since 1967. The deadly earthquake caused a 10–15 cm (3.9–5.9 in) fissure in the ground which spread over a length of 25 kilometers (16 mi). Some geologists believe that the earthquake was due to reservior-triggered seismic activity . It may be recalled that Maharashtra State is also a geothermal area with 60 hot water springs therein .The terrain of Maharashtra State & that of China resemble in most of respects.

Today there are more than 87,000 dams in China.

The remedial measure to prevent the prospective earthquakes is that china should immediately install binary cycle geo thermal power plants on all of their hot water springs to harness the geo thermal energy and convert it into commercial electricity. In this way the element of heat will be converted into commercial electricity there why reducing the chances of production of steam.
